Visitors can find the perfect getaway in Pencelli Castle Caravan and Camping Park described as being “as near to perfect as you can get” by camping enthusiasts. Tucked away just four miles east of Brecon within the Brecon Beacons National Park, this multi-award-winning park serves as a peaceful base for numerous outdoor activities.

Aside from its serene location, it also provides easy access to walking, cycling, mountain biking, pony trekking, canoeing, and bird watching, ensuring there’s something for every outdoor lover.

But there’s more to this hidden gem than just the great outdoors, it’s also located just two minutes away from a cosy traditional pub and a short distance from some of the region’s top attractions.

One such nearby attraction is the Cantref Adventure Farm. Just 10 minutes from the park, the farm boasts indoor play areas, horse riding opportunities, animal feeding sessions, pet handling experiences, a cafe, and VIP animal-focused encounters.

Historical sites, culture, and sublime food are all within reach as well. At Brecon, a picturesque market town a leisurely walk away along the campsite towpath, visitors will discover unique shops, museums, an iconic restaurant known for its delicious burgers, Brinoer Tramroad, Talybont Reservoir, and even a cathedral.

Cycling enthusiasts will be thrilled to know that the Taff Cycle Trail is conveniently located right by the park’s entrance. For those wishing to venture back into town, a bus route to Cardiff and Abergavenny is easily accessible.

After a day of exploration, a refreshing pint might just hit the spot. The campsite is a stone’s throw away from an idyllic village pub, The Royal Oak in Pencelli, which boasts a delightful surprise at its rear.

On colder evenings, the pub offers a cosy retreat, while summer nights invite guests to enjoy garden beers beside the tranquil Brecon and Monmouthshire canals.

As you savour your drink or indulge in some hearty pub fare, watch the narrowboats gently glide by before returning to the campsite for a good night’s sleep.

The campsite itself has garnered a stellar five-star rating on Tripadvisor, with visitors praising not only its prime location but also its impeccable cleanliness.

One satisfied camper left a glowing review: “This site is such a hidden gem. We try to come here as often as we can. The views are spectacular, with a pub just on your doorstep. There isn’t anything you can fault about it.”

Another added: “This is the most luxurious campsite I have ever stayed at. Even fresh flowers in the toilet/shower block! Beautiful setting and perfect location.”

The park offers a variety of accommodation options including touring caravans, motorhomes, and tents, all set within three scenic fields. The site boasts an award-winning facility block and a well-maintained children’s play area situated just outside the main camping zones.
