Ryanair is well-known for its low-cost flight offering, with seats often on sale for as little as £9.99. But where customers might make a saving on their seats, they can often end up paying in other ways. Though Jet’s luggage allowance or British Airways’ cabin bag rules tend to be fairly generous, Ryanair’s is rather tighter.
And for customers who end up with a bag that’s slightly too big, they could be slapped with an additional expense in the form of luggage fees.
Luckily, Amazon is offering a limited-time deal on a number of Ryanair-approved bags, meaning you can pack all of your essentials without fear of breaching the airline’s baggage rules.
The easiest way to avoid luggage fees is by understanding exactly how much baggage you are entitled to within your fare. This depends on what you have paid for.
In all cases, you can save the most money on Ryanair luggage when you purchase extra bags online. If you leave it until you get to the check-in desk, you can end up shelling out as much as £45.99 for a last-minute hold bag check-in fee.

One of the most purse-friendly options is to opt for a Priority fare.
- Priority fares allow customers to take a small personal bag (40 x 20 x 25cm) and a 10kg bag (55 x 40 x 20cm) with them onboard. You’ll also get to board the plane first via the Priority Queue as an added bonus
- Priority plus two extra bags costs between £6 and £30 when done online, compared to at the check-in desk where it can cost anywhere from £6 to £35.99
But be warned, it’s not uncommon for Ryanair staff to request passengers pop their luggage into the sizer before boarding. If your bag does not fit into the sizer, you could face a fee at the gate.
