The UK’s best city staycation has the country’s most hidden gems | Travel News | Travel

Looking to escape the crowds on a staycation? An unexpected destination has been crowned as this year’s best hidden gem.

The travel expert team at Bounce looked at Tripadvisor reviews and Google search data to find cities with the most hidden attractions.

Coventry came out on top with a whopping 19 hidden gem attractions, around 10 percent of its attractions.

The Coventry Music Museum was the city’s best-rated hidden gem on Tripadvisor with over 1,200 excellent reviews.

The Museum celebrates music from the Coventry and Warwickshire area from The Specials to Delia Derbyshire.

‘Deb H’ wrote on Tripadvisor: “Great place to visit. Loved looking back at great music. The staff were very attentive and helpful.”

‘Roger E’ said: “Excellent museum and great volunteers. Learned a lot about Coventry music and artists.”

Coombe Abbey Park was the city’s second best rated hidden gem. The park has woodland and lakeside walks spread over 500 acres of gardens.

Coventry’s Midland Air Museum and St Mary’s Guildhall were also described as hidden gems.

Although they’re slightly better known, Coventry Transport Museum and the city’s 20th century Cathedral are also top attractions worth visiting.

The Transport Museum is home to the world’s largest collection of British road transport while Coventry Cathedral is one of the UK’s most unique religious buildings.
