Legalpioneer, a website that lists law-related companies in areas such as legal tech, justice tech and governance, has donated its entire data set of more than 13,000 companies to GitHub, a platform that allows developers to store, share and collaborate on code.
The entire data set is now available under the Open Database License (ODbl) on GitHub, making it available as a resource for students, researchers, entrepreneurs and others.
Raymond Blijd, chief executive officer of Legalcomplex, the Amsterdam-based company that operates Legalpioneer, said that he is doing this in order to underscore what he believes is the transformative power of artificial intelligence in legal technology.
By making this data set freely available, Blijd said, Legalpioneer hopes that data scientists, technologists, and innovators will apply AI models to the data and unlock valuable insights that could shape the future of legal services.
“We see AI as a key driver in revealing new patterns and opportunities within the legal landscape,” Blijd said. “We encourage users to experiment with our dataset, and we’re eager to learn from the discoveries you uncover.”
At least one person has already taken advantage of this data, feeding it into NotebookLM to create a podcast-style discussion of the legal tech landscape. Check out The Podcast that BERT Built from Eric Gu.
Meanwhile, Blijd says he is launching a new venture, Sabaio.com, which aims to provide legal professionals with secure and private access to AI-driven solutions.
