This pretty area of the second city is known for its chocolate factory and rich history – it makes for a fun day out if you’re in the Midlands.
Bournville is one of Birmingham’s most known suburbs, while it may not be the most obvious choice for a day out, there is a lot to see and do in the area.
The most obvious and famous place to visit is the Cadbury factory and Cadbury world. Dating back to 1824, the factory is still in business today producing its famous chocolate.
Cadbury World is one of Birmingham’s most visited tourist attractions with 600,000 visitors each year.

You can take a walk around the village’s green spaces, from the Village Green to Bournville Park and Rowheath Pavilion’s playing fields, the suburb is very lush and verdant.
If you enjoy beautiful architecture, you should visit the Serbian Orthodox Church of the Holy Prince Lazar. This hidden gem can be found on Cob Lane and was the first purpose-built Serbian Orthodox church in the UK.
The area has a charming old fashioned feel and its quaint shops add to its magic. You won’t find any big chains in the area, but it is home to a plastic-free supermarket called ‘The Clean Kilo’ which is a unique store loved by locals.
Another feature of the area worth visiting is the famous Carillon which is one of the largest instruments of its kind in Britain. It has 48 bells and George Cadbury commissioned the Carillon as a gift to the Cadbury workers in 1906 after a visit to Bruges, Belgium.
You might even be able to catch a recital if you’re lucky! These are usually held from February to December.
