Flight attendant on the item you ‘always need to pack’ especially if travelling by plane | Travel News | Travel

Flight attendants are the best people to take advice from when it comes to travelling on planes. Cabin crew professional Caroline, who lives in Florida shares her travel insight on her TikTok account.

She advised travellers on an item they should always pack for a flight – no matter what season it is, and what the weather is like in the location they’re travelling to.

Caroline explained: “This is simple but I can’t tell you how many times a day I get asked for a blanket by someone [on the plane] wearing shorts and a crop top on the plane.

“Always, always, always bring a sweatshirt on the plane, to the airport. The airport is freezing, the plane can sometimes be cold.”

While it can seem counterintuitive to bring a jumper when travelling to a hot destination, Caroline recommends not dressing for the destination, but the plane.

She said: “Even if you are going somewhere tropical and you’re not going to need it, bring it on the plane, dress warmly.

“A lot of airlines don’t have blankets so don’t bank on that! That’s why I say dress warmly.”

Caroline also suggested dressing in layers as it’s the most effective way to make sure you’re comfortable – at least in the cooler temperature on the plane.

What to take on a flight:

  • Passport
  • Visa
  • Purse or wallet
  • Phone
  • Travel charger
  • Water bottle
  • Sanitiser
  • Tissues
  • Hand lotion
  • Snacks
  • Travel pillow
  • Headphones
  • Lip balm
  • Deodorant
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste

There are also a few summer travel tips Caroline shared to help travellers beat the chaos.

She advised Britons to be cautious when booking connecting flights online.

Caroline explained: “Tip number one if you’re booking a connecting flight make sure to give yourself at least two hours in between flights.

“A lot of these third-party websites are going to let you book something 30 minutes apart. It’s not enough time.

“Even an hour these days is really just not enough time. Give yourself two hours between connecting flights.”
