Average UK house price can buy luxury Spanish apartment with sea views | Travel News | Travel

When retiring, many UK residents decide to set off and spend their newly-found in another, warmer climate.

Whilst many are happy to downsize, often going from a full-sized house to a smaller flat, a new study by the home builder Taylor Wimpey Espana has shared that expats can get a for the price of an average house in the UK.

Marc Prichard, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey Espana noted that moving to a Spanish villa can help retirees experience everything the country has to offer.

He said: “Spain’s affordability is the icing on the cake. Not only does it provide an , superb gastronomy, a wealth of and so much more, those who come here from the UK can enjoy the best of the Spanish lifestyle for less than they would pay back home.

“Add to that the impressive real estate offering in popular areas such as Alicante and Malaga and there’s a compelling case for UK property buyers to consider purchasing a home in Spain.”

According to the study, the typical cost of a house in the UK during December 2023 was £285,000, which is enough to buy a new apartment in Denia, Alicante.

Located just 100 metres away from Bella Beach, each flat has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, along with an open-plan kitchen and living room to maximise the amount of space available.

In addition, the apartment features a shared garden area and swimming pool, giving Britons the opportunity to spend even more time in the Spanish sun.

Taylor Wimpey Espana also noted that those thinking about selling up and living in Spain could buy a Green Golf flat in Estepona, Malaga.

Priced from €340,000 (£290,000) plus VAT, the luxury apartment is slightly more expensive than the typical UK house, however, it features three bedrooms that look out on the fairways of Estepona Golf.

Whilst golf is not in everyone’s interest, the gated community flat also has a good view of the Mediterranean sea and multiple swimming pools.

Moving to another country may feel like a very significant step in a person’s life, however, emigrating to Spain is surprisingly common.

According to a study conducted by Colegio de Registradores, there are four provinces in the country in which foreign buyers have at least 30 percent of home purchases in the area.

Many of these homes are owned by retirees from the UK or are used as holiday homes for those wanting easy access to the many attractions Spain has to offer.
