Beautiful seaside town dubbed a ‘mini Cannes’ 600 miles from France | Travel News | Travel

One little area in the Balkans is increasingly being considered a mini Cannes thanks to the wealthy tourists it attracts and its outstanding beauty.

Montenegro is increasingly getting the attention of holidaymakers keen to discover new stunning destinations in Europe.

As more people discover the coastal area of the Balkan country, its towns and resorts are increasingly being compared to the French Riviera.

Much like Cannes, Nice and Saint-Tropez, many coastal cities in Montenegro boast turquoise waters, majestic views, and a laid-back atmosphere.

The area near the Bay of Kotor, also known as Boka Bay, has come under the radar of many wealthy tourists thanks to its real estate value, docks able to host their mega-yachts, and a beauty worthy of its status as UNESCO World Heritage Site

Among the most sought-after destinations in the area is Lustica Bay, an upmarket resort development set around a yacht harbour.

Established in 2008, Lustica Bay is a high-end take on traditional fishing villages that can be found elsewhere in the Balkans.

Over the years, the area has grown into a town including a prestigious hotel, residential neighbourhoods, several shops and sports courts among other amenities.

The town, which its developers hope will eventually be able to accommodate some 6,000 people, features stunning homes with terracotta roof tiles and stone walls.

One of the must-see attractions near Lustica Bay is the Blue Grotto, a beautiful cave that can be visited by taking part in a boat tour.

Those who want to relax on a beach can head to Plavi Horizonti which, thanks to its calm waters, is normally suitable for children.
