For a little history, the company highlighted a visit to Bletchley Park, near Milton Keynes; a former World War Two base that was home to codebreakers such as Alan Turing.

80 years ago, Turing used the base to build Colossus, the large decoding machine that is widely believed to be the first programmable computer.

Bletchley Park also has a number of events teaching children how they can crack codes, and under-12s go free.

Another venue with free admission for children under 16 is the Eden Project, the famous botanical garden in Cornwall.

Not only can children and adults alike admire the wide variety of plants and flowers on display, they can also take advantage of a number of science shows and experiments.

Until February 18, 2024, visitors can also take to the ice rink for a final skate around the iconic attraction, with booking available online.

Finally, whilst London is often the most expensive part of the country to live in, bargain-seeking families can still get a good deal when visiting a number of the capital’s most famous attractions.

Merlin Entertainment has announced a Valentine’s deal that allows visitors to receive two tickets for the price of one between February 9 and 14, 2024.

Venues that accept the deal include the London Eye, Madame Tussauds, the London Dungeon, Sea Life and Shrek’s Adventure.
