Cruise guests issued warning as they’re told cabin location is ‘crucial’ | Cruise | Travel

Cruise guests usually have a choice of cabin. From luxurious penthouse suites to cheap interior cabins, there are a lot of options available for passengers.

But while the type of cabin is important, guests will also need to consider where their cabin is located, according to one cruise expert.

Iglu Cruise’s chief commercial officer, Dave Mills, said the location of a cabin is “crucial” and guests won’t want to make a mistake.

He said: “It’s no secret that cruise ships are huge, and where your cabin is located on the ship is crucial.

“Bigger cruise ships often have everything from theatres, bars, restaurants and even nightclubs.

“Some people want to be close to the action, whereas others may want a quieter stay. Either way, you’re going to want to look at the deck plan and choose a cabin that’s right for you.”

Ship deck plans are usually available online so guests can plan where to stay before they book their cabin.

Cabins near the nightclub or restaurant might be very noisy. Some guests say that rooms under the pool deck are the noisiest as crew members set out the pool furniture very early in the morning.

Dave added: “An inside cabin is almost always cheaper, so this is a great option for those who are looking to save money or don’t plan to spend a lot of time in their room.”

Interior cabins are nearly always the cheapest option but they might not suit guests who get seasick.

Having trouble choosing a cabin? A travel agent may be able to advise guests on the best cabin for their needs.
