Cruise passengers urged to pack cheap item to store more clothes | Cruise | Travel

A cruising expert has shared a small item tourists should always bring on board to store more clothing items in their cabin.

TikTok user, @cruiseradio, regularly posts short videos where she offers viewers tips to make upcoming trips more enjoyable and showcases some of the most unusual and impressive features on particular ships.

In a popular video, @cruiseradio suggested tourists pack some magnetic hooks which can quickly be fitted in their cabins.

She advised: “Cruise tip of the day: before heading on your next cruise, be sure to pack some magnetic hooks for your cabin.

“These hooks will stick right on your stateroom walls and allow you to hang wet swimsuits, hats and other items.”

With many cruise ship cabins being somewhat smaller than a typical hotel room, it can be difficult to fit enough clothes for several people to last a long voyage.

By packing a few magnetic hooks for each passenger in the cabin, tourists can hang items around their room, with many using them to dry out swimwear.

In particular, some cruising experts recommend buying a set designed to hold barbecue utensils as these are typically better at holding heavier items.

Similarly, the online holiday booking platform Cruise Critic suggested tourists looking to maximise the amount of space in their cabin should bring hooks with suction cups which can be fitted in the bathroom.

Despite often not being as strong as the magnetic alternatives, these hooks can be used to store holders for toothbrushes or even shelves for toiletries.

The website also suggested using a hook or the shower curtain rail to hang an air freshener, with most cabin bathrooms not featuring ventilation fans like a regular house.

Finally, Cruise Critic recommended that passengers looking to personalise their cabin should take along some regular magnets.

These can be used to decorate the room with posters or items that reflect the countries passengers are set to visit during their stay without running the risk of damaging the walls.

However, more practically, magnets can be used to keep important items that could easily be lost, such as tickets for shore excursions, in an easily accessible yet safe space.
