Dorset voted one of UK’s ‘most breathtaking gems’ – holidays from £13pp | Travel News | Travel

England is a tapestry of stunning landscapes, gorgeous coastal views and charming villages, but in a bid to delve further into which country is deemed “the most beautiful” voters have cast their opinion in a poll by StrawPoll. The polling website invited voters to “join thousands of others in ranking England’s most breathtaking gems”, which has led to a list of 10 counties being named.

Dorset was named among the top 10 “most beautiful counties” thanks to its “stunning Jurassic Coast, picturesque countryside, and charming towns and villages.”

Strawpoll added: “Dorset is a county of outstanding natural beauty. It’s also home to some of England’s most historic landmarks, such as Corfe Castle and Lulworth Cove.”

Over the last couple of years, have seen a surge in popularity, with many Britons even admitting to swapping overseas breaks for something closer to home. But this does mean that holiday properties can be pricey, especially during peak times of the year.

If you are thinking of visiting Dorset, and hoping to bag a bargain stay, January could be the perfect time, with plenty of travel firms offering January and discounts.

Shorefield Holidays is one of them, a family-run holiday park chain which operates eight parks across the stunning South Coast. And, as part of its January sale, Shorefield has slashed the cost of stays at some of its Dorset parks to as little as £13 per person.

The January sale sees up to 30 percent off all of Shorefield’s self-catering, camping and touring getaways in February and May 2024, and 20 percent off holidays booked on other dates.

The holiday firm has recently extended its January sale, meaning holidaymakers have until January 31, 2024, to make the most of the offers available.

However, the best prices are only on select dates and are likely to go quickly.

Perhaps one of the best offers included in the sale is a four-night stay at Oakdene Forest Park from just £13 per person, based on six guests staying in a Statement Caravan. Oakdene Forest Park is nestled in the woodland on the edge of the Hurn and Avon Forest, with plenty of open spaces.

From here, guests can unspoilt river meadows and woodlands, with the beaches of Bournemouth and Poole easily accessible by car.

The park also features plenty of activities, including children’s entertainment, escape rooms, swimming, archery and more.

Or, for those seeking a cosy escape, the sale has discounted a three-night stay for two people in a quaint Shepherd’s Hut at Wilksworth Caravan Park to just £33 per person. Wilksworth Caravan Park offers luxurious shepherd huts, touring and camping pitches in the heart of Dorset’s countryside as well as a stunning five-bedroomed house.

The park is described as being “a gateway to some of the most spectacular countryside in Britain”, with the beautiful Cranborne Chase, historic New Forest, and Hardy Country all on its doorstep.

The Shepherd’s huts are one of the newest additions to the site and offer the perfect getaway for those keen to enjoy a glamping holiday, complete with their own outdoor log burners and barbecue.
