easyJet issues holiday warning for British tourists | Travel News | Travel

easyJet has issued a warning for Britons going on holiday this weekend. It said passengers could be impacted by train strikes.

A warning on the budget airline’s website said: “UK train services are planning to strike across the country from May 12 to May 14 2023.

“No train services will operate to or from Gatwick Airport on May 12. Please plan your journey in advance.

“Train companies across the UK will be operating a significantly reduced schedule, with disruption likely in the next few days.”

easyJet advised customers to make alternative travel arrangements to travel to the airport and to allow extra time for their journey.

British tourists can find the latest updates on train strikes on the National Rail website or at TFL.

Mick Whelan, Aslef’s general secretary, said: “We do not want to go on strike. We do not want to inconvenience passengers, we have families and friends who use the railway, too, and we believe in investing in rail for the future of this country.

“But the blame for this action lies, fairly and squarely, at the feet of the employers who have forced our hand over this by their intransigence.”

RMT general secretary Mick Lynch, said: “We have no alternative but to press ahead with more strike action and continue our campaign for a negotiated settlement on pay, conditions and job security.”
