‘I’m a travel expert and this is Europe’s best city to visit on interrail’ | Travel News | Travel

Interrail holidays are a fantastic way to explore Europe. You get to enjoy fantastic views enroute, explore multiple destinations and cut your carbon footprint.

But with so many incredible European destinations to choose from, it can be hard to settle on a route. I’ve been interrailing a few times and I think there’s one city that’s the best destination to include.

Budapest, Hungary’s charming capital city, is an ideal destination for interrailing tourists. The city straddles the River Danube and has a huge range of attractions.

Head to the top of Castle Hill for breathtaking city views or book a tour of the city’s majestic riverside Parliament Building.

Enjoy coffee at one of the city’s classical coffeehouses or admire the architecture at the Great Synagogue, the largest Jewish place of worship outside New York City.

But why is Budapest so ideal for interrailers? For a start, it’s very affordable. Coffee, food and drinks can all be purchased at much cheaper prices than in the UK.

Hostels are also extremely affordable with private rooms available for under £20 per night. The city’s backpacker culture is also very established so there’s a huge range of choice for interrailers.

Even the city’s famous thermal baths are affordable. A day ticket to the city’s gorgeous Gellert Baths costs under £25, the ideal treat when you’ve been lugging a backpack around Europe. Head to the city’s ruin bars for a unique taste of Hungarian nightlife.
