As February nears its end, many Britons will be thinking ahead to summer and for lots of people that means the beach.
But where are the world’s best beaches?
A new ranking from Tripadvisor based on travellers’ reviews has crowned a gorgeous spot in Portugal as the world’s best beach.
Praia da Falésia is located in Portugal’s attractive Algarve region, which is easily reached from the UK on a direct flight.
A Tripadvisor spokesperson said: “Praia da Falésia is known for its dramatic cliffs, golden sands and sparkling blue waters.
“Sunbathe on the huge shore, go swimming or body surfing in the waves, or stroll along the scenic footpath on top of the cliffs and check out the incredible views.”
One tourist wrote: “Love the coloured cliffs along this beach. Wide open seas with pristine sandy beach for about 6km.”
An Italian beach, Spiaggia dei Conigli, came second in the prestigious ranking. Rabbit Beach is one of the world’s most photographed shores and is located on the island of Lampedusa.
Spain’s La Concha beach took third place on the list. San Sebastian’s city beach is one of the country’s prettiest. Check out Express.co.uk’s experience there.
Hawaii’s Ka’anapali Beach came fourth in the ranking while Grace Bay Beach in Turks and Caicos rounded off the top five.
