Faced with an outdated WiFi infrastructure, the London-headquartered commercial legal services firm encountered significant hurdles in supporting a modern, mobile workforce, especially during the pandemic’s peak, which necessitated a swift transition from desktop PCs to laptops. With over 1200 users and a mix of devices reliant on WiFi, the firm needed to upgrade its legacy Aerohive network setup to meet the growing demand for robust and secure connectivity. This challenge was compounded by a lack of enterprise-grade solutions in some overseas offices.
Trowers & Hamlins engaged Appurity, leveraging their longstanding partnership and Appurity’s networking expertise, to update their WiFi infrastructure with Extreme Networks. Appurity supported the Trowers & Hamlins team with network planning, including office heat mapping for optimal access point placement, and executed the project despite global challenges like chip shortages. Appurity further supported the team by installing access points and configuring backend systems.

Trowers says that the deployment of Extreme Networks’ technology has markedly enhanced network coverage and reliability for the firm. The introduction of a guest network with self-service access mirrors the convenience of hotel WiFi, significantly reducing service desk inquiries, and the Extreme Cloud IQ system provides valuable insights into network health, facilitating remote management.
