TuGo’s Cancel for Any Reason Optional Coverage

Dreaming of travelling in the months ahead but want to err on the side of cautious trip planning? Worried your financial investments will go down the drain if you can’t travel because of last-minute changes?

Well, good news! With TuGo, you can add Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) Optional Coverage to Trip Cancellation & Trip Interruption Insurance, the All Inclusive Holiday Package or the Non-Medical Package to protect your next getaway.

Don’t know what it covers? No worries—in this blog post, we’ll dive into CFAR and how it can protect you against financial loss in case a trip gets cancelled, so read on!

What is Cancel For Any Reason optional coverage?

Sometimes, things might not go as planned, and we understand that travellers’ increasing need for flexibility has become one of the new norms. By adding CFAR optional coverage, you can cancel your trip for any reason other than a covered risk already listed in the policy.

How does Cancel For Any Reason work?

You’ll be reimbursed for up to 50% of prepaid, non-refundable, non-transferable travel costs associated with your cancelled trip, or up to the sum insured selected before departure, which is non-refundable and non-transferable to another date (whichever is less). All you’ll have to do is add CFAR to Trip Cancellation & Trip Interruption Insurance within 5 days from the date you make the initial payment for your trip, or at any time before any cancellation penalties apply. If you make a cancellation, you must do so more than 5 days before your departure date.

What’s different about this add-on coverage is that Trip Cancellation & Trip Interruption Insurance Exclusions and General Exclusions don’t apply to Cancel for Any Reason optional coverage.

Be sure to review coverage benefits, covered risks and exclusions to really understand your travel insurance policy before you go. If you have questions, contact your insurance professional for help.

Why is CFAR important?

Cancel for Any Reason will make a useful add-on to your Trip Cancellation & Trip Interruption coverage if, for example, you:

  • Decided to cancel your vacation since the 14-day weather forecast at your destination was less than ideal.
  • Planned a romantic getaway with your significant other, only to have the relationship unfortunately end before your trip.
  • Can’t make your trip due to your child’s rescheduled school event or sports game.

Take Maggie’s story, for example. Maggie* booked an all-inclusive vacation to Mexico with her friends, only to realize last minute that she had forgotten to request time off from work.

Much to her dismay, her company denied her vacation request, leaving Maggie no choice but to cancel her much-anticipated Mexico trip. Luckily, she purchased TuGo’s Cancel for Any Reason Optional Coverage. Thanks to this coverage, Maggie recouped 50% of the expenses for the planned trip even though the reason for cancelling her trip was not a covered risk listed in her policy.

Prebooked trip costs $2,879.00

Amount reimbursed by TuGo $1,439.50

We all have reasons to want to travel and see the world; and on the flipside, we all have reasons to sometimes postpone or cancel our plans, too. So even when the best laid travel plans go awry, TuGo will be there to help.

Safe travels,
Suki
