UK seaside town is ‘underrated’ and ‘by far the cleanest’ | UK | Travel

Brits are eyeing up staycations as the go-to choice for a sun-soaked summer, shunning international travel for the charms of the UK.

The trend for holidaying at home took off during the Covid pandemic and shows no signs of slowing down.

With less hassle and often kinder to the wallet, staycations offer a fantastic opportunity to discover some of Britain’s seaside treasures.

TikTok travel guru @lotteboo3 raved about an “underrated” coastal spot on the platform.

Southwold in Suffolk, is a classic seaside town – and the perfect destination for those seeking traditional British beach vibes. It boasts not one, but two stunning beaches: Southwold Pier Beach and Southwold Denes Beach.

The town’s picturesque beach huts, painted in joyful hues of yellow, white, and blue, line the shore, creating a quintessentially British scene.

The TikTok sensation highlighted a local “award-winning bakery” overflowing with delectable treats like sausage rolls and pastries.

Adding to the charm is a quaint lighthouse and a magnificent pier where visitors can leave their mark by creating personalised plaques. The Southwold Pier website even offers a Pier Plaque Creator for tourists to commemorate their visit with a unique souvenir or gift.

Many were charmed by the colourful houses and charming seaside ambiance showcased in a TikTok video about Southwold, garnering nearly 32,000 likes and over 3,200 saves.

The entrancing views presented in Lotte’s clip spurred more than 1,000 viewers to share the post, with many planning their forthcoming trips.

Responding to the video, enthusiasts jumped in to laud the town. @Goodgriefisthatthetime commented: “Worked at scores of seaside towns all over the UK. By far the cleanest well looked after.”

Laura Marsh shared her experience: “We live down the road from Southwold. Definitely one of our happy places. Great beer and fish and chips.”

There was a fondness for Southwold amongst the comments, with some labelling it as their “happy place”.

Bethany revealed: “I absolutely love it here I go every year. It’s like a second home”.

Meanwhile, Caitlin Harvey commented: “Worked here for six years. Can’t deny that it’s actually a lovely place to visit.”
