USA’s top walkable city is an iconic destination that’s popular with tourists | Travel News | Travel

The USA isn’t generally known for its walkable cities and according to Statista, 73 percent of American commuters use a car to get to work.

However, there are a few cities in the USA that are much more pedestrian-friendly with attractions a short walk from each other.

According to research from the team at Preply, Nashville is the USA’s second-easiest city to explore on foot.

The team found that five of the city’s top attractions are under a two-mile walk from each other and it would take a tourist just 33 minutes to reach them all.

Nashville is the capital of Tennessee and it’s famed as the home of country music in the USA.

Why not start your trip at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum to get to grips with the genre’s history?

This whopping museum is home to over 2.5 million artefacts. After that, take a five-minute stroll to the Ryman Auditorium.

The home of bluegrass music, tourists can learn about the venue’s incredible history and see artefacts on a tour. Or pop back in the evening to see a show.

From the Ryman, head to the Ole Smoky Distillery on foot to try some of the venue’s legendary corn whiskey.

While the distillery is still home to working copper stills, tourists can also hang out and have a drink at the venue’s popular bar.

After the distillery, check out the nearby Johnny Cash museum, wander along Honky Tonk Highway or visit the Frist Art Museum.

At the end of the day, pop into a Nashville restaurant to try some of the city’s most iconic dishes.

Hot Chicken is one of Nashville’s signature dishes. The fried chicken is usually seasoned with cayenne pepper and paprika.

Fried catfish is another popular choice which is usually served in sandwich form with coleslaw and tartare sauce.
