‘We took a 10 hour trip to Ibiza for just £37 and it was amazing’ | Travel News | Travel

Clare Jeffs, 36, and Hannah Brown, 38, were craving a day out and decided to seize the opportunity to hop on a plane and explore the vibrant island of Ibiza.

On March 30, 2023, Clare and Hannah embarked on their whirlwind adventure. They boarded an early morning EasyJet flight from Manchester airport at 3am, arriving in Ibiza at 9am. With the entire day ahead of them, the duo wasted no time in immersing themselves in the island’s charm.

Their first stop was the enchanting Old Town, where they indulged in brunch and strolled through the picturesque streets. The allure of the beach beckoned, and they spent a blissful afternoon sunbathing and enjoying the soothing sound of the waves.

Clare, a complaints advisor, revealed this trip was particularly special for her as she hadn’t spent a day away from her baby since her birth.

With her daughter having some medical issues, Clare had initially assumed she wouldn’t be able to travel abroad for a few years. However, the affordable flights to Ibiza presented an irresistible opportunity.

Clare said: “I said to Hannah – ‘I think I’m going do something absolutely crazy and go to Ibiza for the day’ and she said ‘take me’. I knew she would.”

Hannah, a marketer and mother of twins, managed to arrange childcare for her daughters, while Clare’s husband, Sam, took care of their 11-month-old daughter, Daisy.

The friends embarked on a two-hour-and-fifty-minute flight to Old Town, Ibiza, where they explored the area, touring the harbour, the old church, and the charming streets.

Clare said: “We then went to the beach and ate paella, and then drove to a different beach where we stayed there for a couple hours before leaving at around 8pm.

“My favourite part had to be by the sea. I am in my happy place by the sea, it was really relaxing to sit watching the waves and to destress.”

And the food was a highlight, with the duo asking for recommendations on Twitter.

Clare said: “We had our food at Cafe Montesol. We had it recommended to us by a random girl on Twitter. I saw she went to Old Town, and I asked her where we should go for food. I had the best avocado on toast ever there. It was amazing and we had churros that were divine.”

With return flights costing a mere £37 each, the mums managed to keep their expenses low, spending only £70 on food and travel.

They even managed to rack up an impressive 15,000 steps throughout the day. As the Sun began to set, they bid farewell to the island and boarded their 9pm flight back to Manchester. By midnight, they were back in Stockport, Greater Manchester, ready to wake their children up the next morning.

Reflecting on their whirlwind adventure, Clare recommended the experience to others. She even has another day trip abroad in mind to surprise Hannah for her birthday.

Clare said: “I cannot recommend it enough it is amazing. It is very tiring, but it is such a good thing to do. It is something different and doesn’t need to cost loads.

“I loved having a day to myself and my best friend. I felt lifted. It was a great idea. It was so nice to step away from real life.

“I really recommend it to mothers that want a day to themselves to chill.”
